Biography

Matt Lampert is the director of the Socionomics Institute, a think tank that researches how trends in social mood influence cultural, political, financial and macroeconomic developments. Matt is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and has spoken about social mood theory throughout the US and Europe. He is a board member of the Socionomics Foundation and edits the monthly research magazine, The Socionomist. In 2009, his research group forecast that after a major stock market bottom, the US would experience a sea change in public opinion about marijuana and move toward legalization. His ongoing research investigates the degree to which shifts in social psychology impact the business, financial and policy climate surrounding marijuana. His work on social mood has been supported by the National Academy of Sciences with funds from the National Science Foundation, and his research has been featured by USA Today, CNBC, the Associated Press and other popular news and scholarly publications.
